It’s funny how gear and situations change. In early 2019 I decided to start over with my camera gear. I sold my old Nikon D750 body and lenses. Got rid of my tripod, camera pack, filters, spare batteries and almost everything I had. Only thing I kept was few cheap Yongnuo speedlights and stands for them.
All this happened because I just felt it was time turn all those things into money and take a break from photography.
Few months later and I was ready to start all over again. This time with different agenda. I wanted to transform my gear in to something easily manageable and lightweight. At the same time I wanted to challenge myself. No extra lenses and no extra things to carry. In the beginning at least.
Obvious choose for me. Something lightweight with great image quality.
Nikkor 24-70 f4
All purpose lens. Part of my challenge yourself agenda. To see how long I can get by with one lens that isn’t even lowest of F stops. Have to admit I have been in situation where I would have needed a 70-200mm. And cityscapes would benefit from wide angle lens.
Sony XQG 64gb
Card was kind of a hassle to find. Had to do a 300km road trip to even get the card in decent amount of time. All Finnish online stores had zero inventory on them. Even Amazon.de said few weeks. Thankfully one store in Finland had them, so road trip it was.
BlackRapid Sport Breathe
Usually I go strapless with the camera but when I do, I carry it with a shoulder strap.
SIRUI TRIPOD T-1004X+G-10KX
Simple and lightweight which gets the job done.
Manfrotto Windsor Reporter
I like the smallish size and clean looks. It also prevents me from carrying too much stuff
iPad Pro 2018
Well this it the other big change for me. At the same time I was decided to get new camera, I was also thinking my workflow. I have been Mac user for over a decade now. My last Mac purchase has been 2015 MacBook Pro, so it would be time to upgrade. Well at the same time Apple did demo on iPadOS, and my choices just multiplied. Doing all this as a hobby, why wouldn’t I be able use iPad as my main machine. I will do seperate blog post on my workflow at some point, but that’s what I did. My workflow is run on iPad. I have Apple Pencil for retouching and external hard-drive for data dumping.
Syrp Genie Mini
I have Syrp Genie Mini for some timelapses, if feel like it.
I have been reading on people’s workflows. How it has changed over the years, and how mine has changed. Running all on my iPad these days. I’ll be making a post how I do things.
